Processing categories for 2018 are being added to Food Processing Guide.
This is part of the initiative to improve the understanding of food processing processes.
“Food processors are required to provide accurate information to customers, and we want to make it easier for them to make informed decisions,” said Dr. Amy Shiffman, Director of Food and Nutrition Science, USDA.
“This guide will help make that easier for consumers and will help them understand the food processors processing processes in a more useful way.”
This guide will also include information about food safety and traceability.
Food processors will be required to complete a Form 1 certification form to certify their processes.
The form will be available online through October 30.
This information will help you better understand how food processing is done, and how you can better protect your health and the environment.
