A report released Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that the production of organic and natural foods is more than one-third higher than it was in 2016, which was the first full year of the Trump administration.
The report notes that nearly 2.4 million tons were produced in 2016 and that organic food production is on track to exceed the 2.1 million tons produced in 2015.
The USDA said that the increase in production will likely continue, with organic food producing in 2019 likely to surpass organic food in 2020.
However, the report noted that while the USDA has been able to estimate organic food’s growth rate, it is still too early to determine how much organic food is produced each year.
It is estimated that organic produce is used for about $9 billion worth of U.N. aid.
The U.K. is the only country that has been producing organic food.
